i bought a pair of jbl mrx515 speakers and I want to know if I could run it with my peavey pv 2000 amp?
i bought a pair of jbl's mrx 515 pa speakers and I want to know if I could use it with the amp i have or should i buy a new one. And if so which new amp will work with these speaker.
the jbl mrx 515 specs are:
8ohms
400w continous
800w program
1600w peak
the peavey pv 2000 amp:
stereo
400w 8ohm
700w 4ohm
1000w 2ohm
bridge mono
1400w 8ohm
2000w 4 ohm
i need some help. I am new to this and i dont want to blow up my speakers or amp
If run the amp in stereo and you use the 8 ohm connections and hook up the speakers the logical left and right - you should be fine.
Under no circumstance connect to anything else. You won't likely harm the amp or speakers by connection to the lower ohm connections, but you will lose a lot of power. The real dangers lies in connecting speakers with say an 8 ohm load to a 16 ohm out, 4 ohm load to 8 ohm out and such. That will fry the amp and possibly the speakers too.
I would be careful not to run the amp on full. This tend to produce nasty distortion which may blow your speakers even though they can handle the continuous watts.
