Im using a PC with Cubase 5, Reason 4, and Recycle
I have a trigger finger, midi keyboard, and audio/midi interface
also have KRK speakers RP5s to be exact.
When you say drum machine, im guessing a MPC or Electric drum set? but if you get a sequencer software like reason, your sound bank is limitless. So you can have any drum sound you want and assign it to your keyboard. That being said i guess im a little confused about your midi controller worth getting question. Because my midi keyboard is my midi controller. But yes you are setting it up right. There is no right way to tell you the truth, but only your way.
