1. Describe in a couple of sentences the important experience that occurred at each of the following places during Israel's journey in the wilderness:

2. Read Ex. 32 – 34. This account includes the “sin of the golden calf.” What was the sin?
Who do you think was to blame for the sin?
Did Aaron consider the golden calf a substitute for Yahweh or a means of worshiping Yahweh? Cite areference from the above chapters to prove your point.

What did Moses do when he came down from the mountain?
1a. The people discovered that Moses was an herbalist
1b. The people discovered how to make Afghanistan bread

1d. The people learned to stay off of a mountain during a severe thunderstorm
2. The sin was false idolatry. Actually, this was not yet a sin. Moses did not yet proclaim it in the ten commandments. He needed to re-write the commandments since he actually broke the first tablets when he finally came down from the mountain and seeing the golden calf being worshipped. He may have broken the first ones because he left out the part of false idols and thus needed a revision.
2a. The blame goes to Moses for this sin since he took many months or even years to come back down from the mountain, leaving his people up in arms, and without any instruction to deny the other gods that were so popular during this time. The golden calf was a widespread god used throughout the entire land of Canaan. Since Moses did not yet introduce his god of the mountain, it is only natural for his people to worship things which they already knew.
2b. Aaron did not consider it a substitute. He didn't even know of yahweh yet. Yahweh only speaks to Moses throughout the entire ordeal. He never spoke to Aaron.
2c. A glaring problem with the calf episode is god's unmistakeable anger of vengance which Moses intercedes and ultimately convinces Yahweh that what he was about to do was wrong. Here, it is Moses - not god - who introduces the higher hand of morality.
2d. Yahweh makes revisions to the first commandments (which were conveniently broken) and included a new list of rules that defined for the first time in human history, a One True God Most High whom presided above all other gods, dieties and spirits across any given land and at all given times. This was an unprecedented rule that was neverbefore established in any prior religion and would have tremendous ramifications on the plight of mankind right on up into the 21st century.
2e. Moses came down from the mountain a number of times. Your question is too ambiguous to answer but I'm assuming you mean the episode where he broke the original commandments.
