Will The Sims 3 and Left 4 Dead run with a nVidia GeForce 8400GS?
Or basically will it run well?
At the minute I only have bulit in graphics chip set, whichy will barely run Half-Life 2.

In case your wondering I have a Dell Dimension 3100

in regards to the sims it should be possible to run that on lower detail and 1024x768 resolution without any problems
however the game "left 4 dead" is slightly more demanding that the "sims" and the geforce 8400gs is simply not up to the job,so a upgrade would be required to play this
however there are suitable cards for under £50 that would run left 4 dead ,these include the XFX GeForce 9500GT 256MB PCI-E 2.0 ( http://www.aria.co.uk/Products/Components/Graphics+Cards/PCI-E/nVIDIA+GeForce+9+Series/XFX+GeForce+9500GT+256MB+PCI-E+2.0+?productId=33345) which retails at just £45.94 inc. VAT
it has a 550mhz core clock and 256mb of gddr3 memory running at 800mhz(1600mhz ddr effective),it also supports a 128bit memory interface which equates to better frame rates and performance
also consider the Club 3D ATI Radeon HD 4670 512MB PCI-E2.0( http://www.aria.co.uk/Products/Components/Graphics+Cards/PCI-E/ATI+Radeon+4000+Series/Club+3D+ATI+Radeon+HD+4670+512MB+PCI-E2.0+?productId=33747) which is £57.44 inc. VAT
however allthough its slightly more expensive than the 9500gt its specs are far superior,it has a 750mhz core clock and 512mb of ddr3 memory running at 1746mhz,these are excellent speeds and include a 128bit memory bus interface
it also supports many additional features including ATI Avivo™ HD video and display technology,Game physics processing capability and Unified Video Decoder 2 (UVD 2) for Blu-ray™and HD Video among others
both these cards are excellent and the best in their price range,however if your budget can go higher there are other much better performing cards such as the geforce 9800gt(even better the gtx) and the radeon HD4850(4870 even better)
